On Screen Costumes - Part 1
I thought I might introduce you to some of my favorite on screen costumes! It's a big mess as some of the TV-series/movies with my favorite costumes are not necessarily my favorite show or film. This is part 1, but let's start with what's actually one of my favorite movies as well.
Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola! I recently did an article on it for a Norwegian magazine, and this movie is so undeniably underrated. For any Scandinavian speaking readers it's to be found here Costumes by one of my favorite costume designers, Milena Canonero.
I'd happily post a screen caption of every inch of this movie, but I'll settle for a couple of favorites.

This petal pink silk ensemble is one of my definite favorites. I have a serious love for opulent 18th century fashion. And of course, the dove blue and mint and Burgundy color combinations that are to be found in the movie are just exceptional! I love how one can use influence of this period in ones style, even though it's different time periods.

As many of my dresses have a clear renaissance influence, I love to seek inspiration from movies who does that period well. One of my first film costume crushes was from the 1968 production of Romeo and Juliet! Almost as legendary as Canonero, Danilo Donati's colorful, luscious period costumes are unbelievable. I never wanted an entire wardrobe of heavy velvet more...

Another renaissance inspiration, but more in my general color scheme is the HBO tv-series The Borgias. I love every single one of Lucrezia Borgia's costumes. And the hair.....

I will do a follow up part to this post, but I also want to include some favorite 1940s hair and fashion. Although a bit late according to the period in which I dress, Gene Tierney's costumes in Leave Her To Heaven are just amazing. Also, it's the single most wanted 1940s hairstyle in my opinion. Yes, please... She wears a monogrammed jumpsuit.

Last but not least, my favorite movie dress of all time- Scarlett's picnic dress from Gone With The Wind (1939)
