1940s Petal Pink Wonder

I thought I'd offer a closer look of this petal pink 1940s dress. It's one of the most special pieces in my wardrobe, and in absolutely beautiful condition. Whenever I post a photo of this, it always Geta lot of questions. With lace detailing, velvet collar, glass buttons, beautiful sleeves and velvet bows on the waist and cuffs, you would think it would be too much (no such thing). It's one of the things in my wardrobe that I consider to best reflect my taste. I love the dainty color and elegant details, reminding me of Disney (with a twist of Tim Burton with the waist bands). It might look a bit crunched sitting down, but it really is a perfect fit. Some people misinterpret how 1940s dresses are supposed to fit, and therefore can't find dresses in their measurement range. They are in most cases (like this) not meant to fit tight in the bust. As you can see in the next to last photo of me standing, it is the perfect amount of blousy. It's also the perfect length, with the skirt hitting right where the knee goes in at the back. In some sense, it's an untraditional 1940s dress, with all the 'right' details, but untraditional. in color and cut choices. If you go through my feed on instagram, there's a video of me wearing this full figure, so you can see the gorgeous silhouette and the fit in the back.

I love to think about who wore my dresses back then... Imagine someone donning their perfect pin curls and this dress. I assume, because of the condition, it has been someone's very special occasions dress. There are no labels in it, which can mean it has beenhome sewn (by someone skilled, apparently).

These are the kind of dresses I love the most to collect. I usually get bored with the simple dresses, although I love the idea of them. Instead, I'm always hunting for special, quirky pieces like this.
